Charming Unique Development in East Sussex Using Dale Timber Windows and Doors
Dale products were higher quality
“I was satisfied that the Dale products were of a higher quality than the alternative option, and although slightly more expensive, worth every penny of the difference for their superiority”

The Project
Sitting proudly within the sought after village of Burgh Hill in the East Sussex countryside, is this beautiful, newly developed family home, christened Hadlow Gate.
Specialist, new build homes developer, Luke Lewis purchased the half acre plot when it became available as a result of land division from the neighbouring property; it came with full planning permission for a bespoke, executive home for which Luke could immediately see the potential to create a stunning residence.
Now complete and marketed for £850,000, the 4 bedroom, 3,000 square foot property has a New England feel to it, featuring red brick and clean, white timber cladding. Its established woodland setting belies the newness of its finish, the property standing at ease in its surroundings.
Details were important to Luke, who wanted to ensure that the finish of every aspect lived up to his high expectations. Beginning in November 2013, the planned method had been a conventional block build, but the tail end of the recession and construction material shortages led him to investigate alternative options, settling on a timber frame for the house, and it has turned out to be a revelation for him, “opting for a timber construction allowed a quick development, even through the winter months; the whole project was completed in 6 ½ months, and I’m unlikely to return to block construction on future projects having now experienced the benefits of a timber structure.”
An important design aspect were the windows and doors; appreciating the prestige of the project and discerning tastes of his prospective target buyers, Luke says that “on a property of this standing, it required investment in the right level of detail and quality; timber windows and doors were always going to be the material of choice, where u-PVC simply wouldn’t do.” He did his research, ruling out low quality products, narrowing it to two suppliers, Dale and one other, eventually choosing the Dale products.
“The windows complement the property nicely, when combined also with the other details such as the cladding, brickwork, the high end kitchen and bathrooms, all chosen for their quality and details.”
In addition, a light oak finished Pomeroy front door was selected to provide the entrance to the hallway, whilst the large open plan kitchen, dining and family area benefits from a three-leaf bi-folding door set.
The result is a picture perfect home in an idyllic location, and we look forward to the opportunity to work with Luke on his next development project.
Entrance Door
Specified to blend in perfectly with the brick and cladding finish, a timeless Pomeroy entrance door in a ‘Light Oak’ stain was installed at the front of the home. Flag windows to either side of the door allow complete this impressive entrance way.
Flush Casement Windows
Chosen with potential buyers in mind in a neutral and timeless ‘Pure White’ painted finish, the flush casement windows feature 18mm astragal squares for a classic appearance, and the reliable operation of the engineered timber windows will be sure to satisfy the new owner as much as they do Luke.
