Dale Chosen for a Traditionally Styled, New Build Property
We are really happy with Dale
“We are really happy with the windows, doors and bi-folds from Dale. The look is exactly what we hoped for and the colour finish works really well with the scheme of the house”.

The Project
Tucked away in a quiet village in Essex, stands this impressive, traditionally styled, new build home owned by the Hedleys. Having purchased the property in 2011, the original house on the site was an old, post-war property in need of serious renovation and the initial plan was to renovate and extend the house.
However, after speaking with an architect brought on board for their renovation project, the Hedleys comment “the architect informed us that bringing the old house up to today’s standards would be incredibly expensive”. After receiving this information, they made the decision to demolish the property and completely re-build it from the ground up. ‘my vision for the property was to build a new, old house’, Mrs Hedley comments.
With this in mind, Mrs Hedley designed every single aspect of her new home from scratch and was meticulous in her attention to detail, both internally and externally. With the new house planning to be bigger than the property originally on the site, there were numerous planning restrictions to overcome. For example, the exterior of the property could not be finished in all brick.
The Hedleys discovered Dale Joinery through a recommendation from Derek Mason, their builder for the project. Although Mr Hedley works in the window industry with non-timber products, the Hedleys opted to move forward with Dale after Derek arranged a meeting with a member of the Dale team.
“From the minute that we saw the Dale sample, both of us were convinced that wood was the way to go. Based on that and Derek’s recommendation, we made the decision on the day and didn’t even look at any other companies” Mrs Hedley goes on to explain.
Sash Windows
For this style of property, sash windows from Dale Joinery were the natural choice for the Hedleys. Their traditional look was the most appropriate for the architecture of the home, dual coloured with ‘Pebble Grey’ externally and ‘Signal White’ internally.
Entrance Doors
Mrs Hedley wanted to create a grand entrance for her new home and as such, specified this stunning Framlingham style entrance door in the same dual colour finish as the new windows. The traditional look of this door was an ideal fit for the Hedley’s vision.
Bi-Fold Doors
At the rear of the new home, a trio of identical sets of 4 panel bi-fold doors were installed. This gives the Hedleys the added flexibility of opening up their living spaces to their generously sized garden.
