The Project
Originally built in the 1840s, this idyllic Cambridgeshire cottage has been transformed by homeowner, Ms Locke.
The project was the vision of Ms Locke, while local developer Paul Duncan (a long-term customer of Dale) undertook the extensive works, inside and out.
“The previous owner was a tenant who had been living here for 60 years. When the opportunity arose, I purchased the house from the old landlord and got to work straight away”.
The house was completely stripped back to its bare walls and original floors. An old lean to at the rear of the property was removed in place of a beautiful extension, with all the works undertaken by Mr Duncan.
“It was via Paul that we were introduced to Dale Joinery, who he couldn’t have recommended more highly”.
The beautiful new windows and doors were designed with local architecture and heritage in mind. “We are part of the Tickell estate here, so when I was designing the new front door, I wanted it to have gothic bars, as that is a key feature of the estate, and local properties”.
“The new windows and doors from Dale Joinery have exceeded expectations! We are very satisfied!”
Entrance Door
The beautiful, gothic style front door is a variation of our ‘Hadleigh’ style, finished in a colour complementary to Farrow & Ball ‘Bone’. Complemented with the 27mm gothic bars, Black door hardware completes the look, creating a beautiful entrance to the charming home.
Sash Windows
In the same external colour finish as the new front door, slim sash windows were specified across the property, a perfect style for the age and architecture of the property.
Flush Casement Windows
For the bathroom and landing, two, smaller flush casement windows were designed by Ms Locke. Gothic bars feature on these products, in a complementary style to the new front door, further paying respect to the local area.
French Doors
For the newly constructed, rear extension, two sets of our timber French doors were the ideal solution. Gothic bars feature on the new doors, creating a timeless and charming look that both respects the history of the property, and will last for years to come.
