The Project
On the south coast, near the town of Wimborne in Dorset, the exquisite Stapehill Abbey is being developed with a long-term plan of exclusive, private, new and beautifully converted homes.
With many centuries of history, the site was home to a small group of nuns for a long period of time, until 1990 when it was converted into a popular local attraction as a museum and craft centre.
In 2014, planning permission was granted for the conversion of the grounds, with the backing of English Heritage, and in 2015 was purchased by Ankers & Rawlings.
With Grade II listings applied to the existing and ancient buildings, a condition of the redevelopment permissions was for the preservation of the historic structures.
Having been on site for 5 years now, the Ankers & Rawlings team have been working to repurpose and refurbish certain buildings while also building new homes, all to a high standard.
As a third-generation family business committed to and focused on quality and service, the Ankers & Rawlings partnership with Dale Joinery and our superior quality products has been a natural one. The team state they’ve never even had a chance to build a showhome on this development, such has been the demand for every property selling off-plan.
Entrance Door
With uniquely and varied styled properties throughout the development, this ‘Pebble Grey’ finished ‘Wardour’ design door offers a cottage style feel. The timber door is accessorised with a pewter Cottage handle and letterbox.
Double Entrance Door
The developers here have created several authentically traditional zones, including these charming stable-style homes looking out on to a paddock. Our double entrance doors sitting next to fixed casements give the impression of a former purpose, and their planked panels have an agricultural feel. The doors are finished in ‘Mouse Grey’ with 18mm astragal bars and Pewter ironmongery.
Sash Windows
Sash windows in various forms feature throughout the properties. This window has an unequal split of sash size, features 18mm astragal bars and is finished in a colour complementary to ‘French Grey’ from Little Greene.
Casement Windows
This traditional casement window has a floating mullion for an unobstructed opening and a concealed trickle vent for improved aesthetics. Finished in a colour complementary to Little Greene’s ‘French Grey’ it also features 18mm astragal glazing bars.
Entrance Door
This panelled ‘Lulworth’ entrance door with toplight is finished in ‘Mouse Grey’ and features Pewter ironmongery, including a Shakespeare knocker. These striking doors create an impressive entrance when combined with the covered porch and sash windows.
Casement Windows
This property has an attractive garden room to the rear, featuring full length, fixed casements with astragal glazing bars in a T-bar design. The ‘Pebble Grey’ colour complements the surrounding finishes.
Entrance Door
Our cottage-style ‘Tintagel’ door sits perfectly on this thoughtfully designed home, and is finished in the earthy neutral tone complementary to ‘French Grey’ from Little Greene. The door also includes a Pewter Cottage handle and letterbox.
