The Project
Following the demolition of the original 1970s bungalow situated on the site, Mrs Anderson is the proud owner of her dream home; a newly built, Georgian inspired property, situated in a sought-after Surrey town.
“I watch a lot of home building shows like Grand Designs, which really inspired me and gave me the motivation to take on a project like this” she explains.
As a perfectionist, with a very clear vision of how she wanted her new home to look, she worked closely with an architect to draw up the plans, designed exactly to her specifications.
“I visited many home building exhibitions and shows, speaking to many companies about different aspects of my build. It became very clear to me what I was looking for when it concerned the windows, the Dale Joinery range was the perfect fit in terms of both quality and the fine detailing”.
As part of her vision for the home, Mrs Anderson designed a clear line of sight from the front to the back of the home, which includes an internal courtyard hallway and a grand entrance door, further enhancing the Georgian era inspiration for the home.
“On shows like Grand Designs, it always seems like the windows turn up late, but the Dale Joinery windows and doors turned up exactly on schedule, which was a very pleasant surprise!” Mrs Anderson comments with delight.
The beautiful new windows and doors create the perfect look for the new home, and have helped Mrs Anderson in creating her vision. “I am particularly impressed by the hidden vents in the sash windows” she concludes.
Sash Windows
Throughout the property, Georgian style sash windows with 18mm glazing bars in a traditional square formation were specified. Finished in ‘Signal White’, these new windows were the perfect fit for the architectural style given to the home.
Entrance Door
A ‘Lulworth’ style front door with sidelights and toplight finished in ‘Jet Black’ was also chosen by Mrs Anderson, a style heavily influenced by the Georgian era. Surrounded by stone pillars, this has created a truly grand entrance that gives the home an abundance of kerb appeal.
French Doors
To the master bedroom, a set of French doors in a matching ‘Signal White’ finish, was installed, opening onto a private balcony. A second set of French doors without sidelights, was also specified on the ground floor, opening to the garden.
